JAKARTA, MAY 29 — In a dramatic and unexpected revelation abroad, senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid admitted that Article 370 gave an impression that Kashmir was separate from the rest of India — a statement that is now sending political shockwaves back home.
Speaking in Jakarta to prominent Indonesian think tanks and scholars as part of an all-party diplomatic mission, Khurshid, who once held the post of External Affairs Minister, said:
“Kashmir had a major problem for a long time. Much of that was reflected in the thinking of the government in an article called 370 of the Constitution, which somehow gave an impression that it was separate from the rest of the country.”
The remarks were made as part of India’s international push to explain Operation Sindoor, the country’s counter-terror response to the deadly Pahalgam attack, in which 26 innocent civilians were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
🔥 Khurshid Acknowledges: Removal of Article 370 Helped Reunify Kashmir in Spirit
Khurshid went on to defend the abrogation of Article 370, stating it was essential in ending that perception of separation. He highlighted the recent elections in Kashmir with a remarkable 65% voter turnout, describing them as a symbol of growing stability and prosperity.
“Elections were held, a government was elected, and the prosperity that has come to Kashmir is evident. Wanting to undo that progress would be unfair to the people,” Khurshid added.
🇮🇳 India Takes the Truth Global: All-Party Delegations Push Back Against Terror Narrative
India has deployed seven all-party delegations across the globe to present a united national front and set the record straight on the Pahalgam massacre and Operation Sindoor.
The missions are aimed at:
- Exposing Pakistan’s role in backing terror groups targeting civilians.
- Justifying India’s firm and focused counter-terror response.
- Highlighting India’s commitment to regional peace and global harmony.
In South Africa, Supriya Sule of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) addressed local audiences, saying:
“This was an attack on the soul of India. Twenty-six innocent lives lost while on vacation. We’re here to tell the world what really happened.”
Sule underscored India’s legacy of non-violence and diplomacy, linking it to the ideals of Gandhi and Mandela:
“India has always stood for peace. This attack shocked us all, but we remain committed to harmony and justice.”
