The Indian selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, is set to convene in Mumbai today to finalize the Test squad for the upcoming England tour, scheduled to begin in June. With the recent retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the meeting carries significant weight as the selectors face crucial decisions on key replacements.
Rohit, apart from being a dependable opener, also served as India’s Test captain. The panel must now identify not only a suitable top-order batter but also appoint a new leader for the red-ball side. Replacing Kohli at the pivotal No. 4 position also presents a major challenge.
