Hyderabad, June 5: Tensions are escalating within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) following a series of developments sparked by MLC Kavitha’s controversial letter and her indirect criticisms of her brother and party working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR). The internal discord has taken a dramatic turn, with party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) maintaining a calculated silence and avoiding any direct engagement with Kavitha.

According to sources, KCR has been dealing with the matter with strategic caution, aiming to prevent the rift between his children from damaging the party’s reputation and stability. As part of this approach, KTR was reportedly sent on an overseas tour, currently in the United States, with his return expected around June 10.
Kavitha, despite multiple attempts, has been unable to secure a meeting with KCR. The BRS cadre and senior leaders have notably distanced themselves from her public events. Even as she continues her activities under the banner of Telangana Jagruthi, the absence of support from BRS leaders is becoming increasingly evident.
After her letter went public, Kavitha made remarks implying dissatisfaction with KTR’s leadership. However, more serious from KCR’s perspective was her alleged suggestion that BRS might consider merging with the BJP—an accusation reportedly taken very seriously. In response, through senior leader T. Harish Rao, KCR clarified that the BRS will not form any alliance and will contest the next elections independently.
Despite her repeated displays of affection and loyalty towards her father, KCR has neither softened his stance nor communicated with her. The situation has left Kavitha visibly anxious and politically cornered, especially with no formal party backing at present.
Sources suggest that even if no reconciliation occurs, Kavitha is determined to continue her work via Telangana Jagruthi. Meanwhile, KTR, who has not commented on the controversy, is expected to return just a day before KCR appears before the Kaleshwaram Commission on June 11.
Party insiders believe that significant developments regarding Kavitha’s position within BRS could emerge only after KCR’s appearance before the commission. Until then, the political stalemate continues, with Kavitha anxiously awaiting clarity from her father.
